About Cranage Parish Council
In England alone there are over 9,000 parish councils and town councils. They are the tier of Local Government, which are closest to the people.
Each parish and town council have a limited amount of duties, as they are local authorities. With agreement of the district council or county council, if they decide to use them, the parish and town council have wide powers. These are certain functions normally carried out by those councils.
Parish and town councils should maintain a close relationship with the local community. The public are encouraged to be observers at the council meetings, as they are obliged to arrange at least one meeting for the parish or town council each year. Local electors may attend as they may raise issues of concern.

What We Do
The Parish Council strives to maintain and improve Cranage for residents and visitors alike. Members of the public are very welcome to sit in and to contribute to the public forum at the start of each meeting. The meetings, usually on a Tuesday, start at 7.30pm at Cranage Hall Hotel (Devere Cranage Estate)
An annual parish meeting takes place, usually in March or April, at which a speaker is invited to give a presentation on a current topic of interest. Cranage residents have a special opportunity to discuss with the council any matters that concern them. This meeting is at 7:30pm in the Cranage Village hall.
Dates of meetings are available on this website and on noticeboards across the parish.
Two newsletters are usually published during the year; it describes developments, events and news. Each issue is delivered to every house in the village as well as being displayed in the Village Hall and on the website.
The notice boards also show the agenda for the next meeting, three working days before the meeting. The boards are situated outside the Village Hall, on Needham Drive, on Northwich Road next to the post box, on Middlewich Road near the crossroads and on Crescent Road next to the post box.
Cranage Parish Council was one of the first councils in Cheshire to be awarded quality status. Quality status is awarded only if several stringent standards in areas of management, financial control, communication etc. are achieved and maintained.
