Peak Cluster Pipeline Project

The consultation for a carbon capture and storage pipeline project is now active - running until 27 February 2026.

The pipeline proposes to reduce carbon emissions from production of lime and cement in the Peak District by transporting it (as CO2 gas) via an underground pipeline out into the Irish seabed.

The proposed initial scoping route for the pipeline has been published and is passing through Cranage. It is also proposed to have an Above Ground Installation in Cranage or Holmes Chapel.
